About 2 years ago I had a hysterectomy for cervical cancer and a plum sized tumor on my uterous, which was not canereous. They left the ovaries. Now I had an ultra sound which showed - right ovary contains a 30x27x33mm cyst; left ovary displaced and enlarged to 73x68x53mm with a septated cystic structure measuring 48x62x61 mm. and noting no evidence of cul-de-sac fluid.
My doctor is recommending a 6 week wait and see option to see if they go down.
My family has a high history of breast cancer all on my maternal side including male breast cancer, no one has had the genetic testing done.
My questions include: is that the right option? why did they not opt to test for cancer? should they test for cancer? my understanding is most "normal" cysts have fluids, what does the lack of fluid represent? my understanding is they can start to determine cancer by the thickness fo the walls, whould that have shown up on the ultrasound? should i request certain tests or go with the wait and see option? my understanding is also that bilateral cysts are fairly uncommon and genetic, does this have any relation to the BRCA gene?
I would appreciate any help you can give me on what direction I should go next and a realistic idea of the importance of this issue. (I don't know if my dr. is taking it lightly or if I am overreacting)
