Bilrubin

I have a question is there anythting in the ovaries that can cause your bilrubin to be elevated? IAm a post liver transplant patient a year ago and my bilrubin is 24 and the doctors don't know why.

It is my understanding tha bilirubin is only related to liver function.  I don't know of any relation to the ovaries.

Causes of elevated Bilirubin in adults can be  cirrhosis, hepatitus (hepatitis), gall stones, sickle cell . excessive exercize, drug reactions, blockage of liver or bile ducts.  None of this comes from the ovaries.

Hi,  my 13 year old son has just been told that his Bilirubin is high.  He had two blood test to confirm this and they both came as High Bilirubin.  The doctor says that all the other tests shows no abnormalities and we should not be concerned,  he suggests we wait 3 months before doing another test to see if there are any changes.  I am very concerned and would like to know (a) what could be the cause of this high Bilirubin and (b) what risks are associated with having this condition.  I would also like to know if there is anything he should avoid (eating wise) or anything he ate could have contributed to this.  Can you please explain this condition to me in details,  much appreciated.  Thank you

I certainly can't diagnose anything for you since I'm not a doctor. But I can share with you that my husband's bilirubin has gone up and down for years. He was checked and found to have Gilbert's syndrome. It's harmless but annoying since it does cause him some times of mild jaundice and fatigue. We read up on it and found an article that said higher protein diet seems to help. He was eating lots of grains, fruits and veggies and that's when he felt the worst. Now he makes sure to get some protein each day and he's been feeling better. May be a coincidence but it's been a couple years since his levels have gone high.
