Biopsy showing high potential to change

Biopsy showing high potential to change

I underwent surgery 2 months ago to remove a mass that was thought to be on the ovary but ended up being in the fimbriae of the tube, so they took the tube and left the ovary.  While he was in there he took a wedge biospy of the right ovary and a biopsy of the other one.  The wedge has come back showing high potential to turn cancerous and he wants to go back in and take out the ovary.  My question is has anyone has this situation and if so did you doctor recommend a full hysterectomy?  I asked my doctor but because I'm only 34 and the other biopsy was fine and I don't have any family history of ovarian/cervical cancer, he doesn't think I should have any more then the one ovary removed.

I haven't been in the same situation as you, but I would suggest that you have a second pathology done by a pathologist that specializes in gynacological pathologies.

Also, if you haven't seen a gyn-oncologist I would suggest you see one and get their opinion on your condition.  Most women that are diag. with ovarian cancer don't have a family history of it.
