Bloating/ Swelling

Hi

Has anyone experienced bloating/ swelling in the abdominal area when getting chemo? I also have a temporary colostomy so think it might be to do with that as the stoma seems swollen as well. Of course, my number one fear is that the cancer is back :-( I'm on my third round of chemo (taking it in two days).

Thanks, Angie, I appreciate your positive note. I had my surgery back on August 7th - complete hysterectomy, omentum and appendix removed, part of my rectum removed (which led to the temp colostomy). They found two seperate cancer principles - one on the rectum (endometrial, stage 1) and ovarian stage 2. I'm getting 6 doses of carbo and taxol - every 3 weeks. I'm on my third session. It all seems unreal! I'll take your hug and send one back.

Hello, I wish I knew what to tell you but I don't know enough about what's going on to see if it's something I have experienced, such as how long since your surgery or what chemo your on.  Constipation will bloat you also, but a change in your stoma should be reported immediately.  Call the office and let them know about your concerns.  If you want to talk more about the colostomy, let me know.  Take care, have hope, it's still early in your treatment, sending prayers, Angie
