Blood Work Back !!! Feedback needed

OK update time -- as some of you already know - in brief here is my history:  Last normal menstrual cycle June 06 - Adominal Pain on left side begain in August 06 - Transvaginal U/S showed 2 simple cysts in left ovary (1) 1.9 cm (2) 1.4 cm.  GI related problems have been ruled out.  I am scheduled for a follow-up US on 10/10.  I am 34 years old - no gyn problems previously - 2 children - tubal done in 1994.  My doc office just called with my bloodwork results and indicated that my horomone levels came back as pre-menoposaul and very close to menoposaul (sorry If I'm not spelling this correctly) - I have no family history of early menapause.  Does anyone know if the cysts could cause this?  Also - if I really am pre-menopausal should I really be getting simple cysts still?  I'm just really confused and concerned.

My perimenopausal symptoms hit me all at once.  I was certain that I had some terrible health condition but testing <heart, thyroid, reproductive, and digestive system> revealed that I was just that - perimenopausal.  I was 37 when it hit, and like you, had no known family history of early menopause.  In fact, I became quite ill and disgusted with the older women in my family who insisted on telling me that I could NOT be nearing an early menopause because things like that just did not happen in my family!!

You might consider asking your gyn to refer you to an Endocrinologist for an evaluation.

Hudson - Thanks for the comment back - I am having some symptoms:  no menses since June - Progesterone induced in September only had menses for 1 1/2 days.  Horrible insominia, some additional hair growth, mild hot flashes at night & really bad mood swings.  Again, though none of this started until September (except for the no menses).  I was always regular prior to June....can it happen that quickly?

Hi there, I've been told that peri-menopause is often a time when a woman can get cysts, due to the irregularity of her hormones.

I don't quite understand how they can tell definitively thatyou are near the end of peri by your bloodwork. I am 51 and just saw my gyne for irregular bleeding and asked about bloodwork. He told me he felt he would be wasting my money to run an FSH test, as hormones during peri can fluctuate day by day and even hour by hour. He said the best indicator of menopause is by the symptoms one is having. I'd be interested if anyone else can comment on this.

Hi Becky, I don't know if it can happen that quickly or not. But, your symptoms sure do sound like peri-menopause. I think the other poster's suggestion of seeing an endocrinologist might be a good one.

I feel for you, as I am having the exact same symptoms and it's not pleasant. Please post again and let us know how you are doing.
