Brain Radiation and Hair Regrowth

This is a question for the ladies who have had whole brain radiation or know of someone who's received it.  My gyn oncologist said it was unlikely that I would get my hair back following my radiation.  Has this been your experience?  My last treatment was on 11/7/06 and there has been no hair growth as of yet. I will deal with it, whatever the case may be but I'm hoping that my doctor is wrong!

I just finished whole brain radiation and was told by my onc. that my hair will grow back and it usually takes about 4-6 months. Now I know a women who was told she would not grow hair again but she did in 8months. I hope this helps you good luck and God Bless.

As you can see, I asked that question about a year ago and am happy to report that I now have hair, although it is very fine and thin and only about 1 1/2" long.  I'm still wearing wigs when I go out.  There are so many other things to "worry" about and hair growth is low on the list.  Fighting 2 deadly cancers (ovarian and brain) is a full time job in itself!

Have a blessed 2008!

Hi there, I actually remember when you first posted this!!  Congrats!!  I know it doesn't mean much in the scheme of things but you know sometimes doctors don't know.  Maybe next year at this time you will have it in a ponytail!!!  Hugs to you and Happy New Year, Shannon
