Breast cancer link to Ovarian cancer

I am 57 and my Doctor has recommended removing my ovrys because my mother and her sister and my fathers sister all had breast cancer and ovarian cancer seems to be linked to breast cancer.  He feels it is a preventative alternative.  What should I consider before surgery?

I have been fighting ovarian cancer for 5 1/2 years unable to get into remission. May 1st I had a breast biopsy and axillary node dissection...results were metastatic ovarian cancer
What now I have been on every type of chemo just finished oxaliplatin and avastin

It is more common to see breast cancer spread to the ovary than to see ovarian cancer spread to the breast

Sorry to add my question to your post but post is full. Dr. Goodman, have been told by my ONC that OC cannot spread to breast but opposite can occur.  What is your opinion on this? Tks

Hi There,
sadly there is no screening test for ovarian cancer. the present recommendation for women at risk fro ovarian cancer is surgical removal of the ovaries. there is nothing else that can prevent this cancer from developing
