CA-125 is 135

My sister whom I advocate for I explained the situation about her mass on both ovaries.  She had a biopsy this week still waiting for the results, but her CA-125 came back at 135.  Her DR. said she does not think it is cancer but does this level seem high?  She is having a laporscopy to see what is going on.  If anyone has any input I would greatly appriciate it.

Hello--I recently had an ovarian cyst (endometrioma) removed and my Ca-125 level was 360.  They were not able to do pathology on the cyst but they did biopsy endometriosis from the peritoneum, and are apparently very confident that it was benign.  So although she does need to get it checked out, a level that high could definitely be caused by endometriosis.  I have read of levels in the 1000s from it, especially if the cysts rupture.  Good luck to you and your sister, I hope everything goes well with her.

I've completed 8 rounds of chemo for stage 3c ovca and my ca125 is 44.  What exactly does this indicate?  Does it mean I didn't respond well to treatment, etc.?

Her endometrial biopsy came back negative so I am hoping that is a good sign. She is having surgery on 3/20/07 so I will keep praying.
Thank You

I am sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but my mother-in-law's CA-125 was 135 and she is stage 3 ovarian cancer and has been fighting this disease for 3 years now.  Although, her doctor suggested at the time it might be endometriosis, because the number was low compared to most cancer cases that he had seen, but when he did surgery he found it was cancer.  Don't lose hope yet, because your family might be one of the lucky ones and not have to fight this disease.  Thank you and Good Luck!

Level 0 to 35 is normal for CA125.   With a mass as you said,  I would be concerned.   You need to see a
Gyno-oncologist.

The Dr. said usually when cancer is present the levels are 300 and higher she said this was common for endo.

Anything above 35 is high when it comes to the CA125....I don't understamd her doc saying otherwise.
Peace.
