CA level has risen in 2 months since last test

My mom was doing great, went through hell and back after being bed ridden almost a year and being fed through her port, 2 surgeries, 10 chemo treatments and avastin, CA was down to 13 since last November.  Her hair finally grew long enough to color and she looks great!
She didnt feel well last week and we told her to take her blood test almost a month early.  Since her last scan/CA test a bit over two months ago, her CA went from 17 to 305 and she is having some abdominal pain.  With all her female organs taken out, Im wondering where this demon is hiding.  I am worried with the enormous jump in her levels in such a short time.
Has anyone experienced this and what did it turn out to be?  She doesnt seem to have ascities build up.  CT is scheduled for tomorrow.  We are all on pins and needles.

Hi Shelly,
You and my medical oncologist have said the same thing, almost word for word.

That means you're one bright young lady!

Thank you - on pins and needles today because she is getting her CT, may receive results tomorrow.  She had it on her bowel before and the fact that she is having abdominal pain, makes me thing it somewhere in that same area.  Im praying its on on the organs.

Do you know if they try to do surgery again to remove tumors or do they just do the chemo again?

Thanks for replying, means so much

I am really sorry to hear your mom is having an increase in numbers.  I hate to say it, but when it jumps that much it usually means recurrence.  The new tumors can be in the peritoneal wall, bladder, bowel, liver, stomach, lungs...just about anywhere.  The problem with ovca is that even after the original tumor is removed, stray cancer cells remain.  It is very hard for chemo to kill them all.  Different types of tumors grow at different rates.  The tumors will show on the CT once they reach about 1cm.  Hang in there!  It is very stressful to wait.  Keep us posted on how she is doing.
