hi thanks for your advice helen, my mum is 65 and as been battling this for three years she was at stage 3 she had three session of chemo and then had hystorectomy then another three after then ahe had a few months break had anther six session then had around a six month break and had the same again she then did do quite well she went on holiday and then soon as we came back her stomach started to swell again and it at started agin so they put her on different chem doxil and that made her really poorly so they did not want to finish the course as she was not strong enough so now she is on termoxefen, she trys her best to eat and she eats little but often as she can but she as chronic indesegtion and reflaux so she is scared to eat to much, but they dont seem overly worried at the hospital they seemed happy to keep her still on the temoxefen as her ca125 had not increased .
Hello... can your Mum eat o.k.? I think this does help if she can get a good intake of nourishing food. I think this has helped me a lot, as I've not had nausea, and have a good appetite. There are some health drinks too, that she could have that will assist in her energy levels, but plenty of rest is probably one of the main things. Is your Mum an elderly lady? Maybe that is something to consider if she doesn't have any energy. My CA.125 is always high... 100s and 1000s...but I still lead a very active lifestyle, so we are all different. I wish your Mum all the best, and hope she is feeling much better soon...hugs...Helen...
thank you for you replies yes the drug was doxil but they had to stop it because her hands got infection in them,so theyy said she needed a break off it as she had no quallity of life she was in so much pain, as any one got any ideas to boost my mums energy if it was not for this she would feel ok really she as no bloating of the stomach no more and dr assaid the tumar mark as stayed stable its not increased rapidly
if your Mum was indeed on doxil as ronni suggested, yes the "burned" hands are a side effect, the way to prevent it is to not wash hands in hot water. My daughter uses ice packs to hands and feet while getting the doxil infusions. No hot showers, washing dishes, avoid hot spicy foods, tight clothes, it will take time for the hands to heal, but they will in time. sub lingual B12 does help the energy levels
Ca 125s higher numbers do not signify being sicker. Some women have been in the 40,000 and still working others at 250 and feel awful.. I am thinking that the drug chemo that burnt your mums hands was doxil... someone with more experience on that chemo drug will be along shortly.. In the meantime I send warm wishes and much positive energy to your Mum.. Good luck..
