CA125

CA125

I just wanted to thank everyone that adds so much information and advise to this forum. this disease is so unpredictible and is so different for each person afflicted. I just received my lab results and my CA125 which escalated to over 3200 while getting Gemzar has gone down to 1300 after one treatment of taxol. I will obviously continue this course every 10 days. How can anyone ever predict what will work unless you try each. Its such a puzzle. Next time I go to the doctor I will discuss abraxane. I will probably hold off on going to avisten until this stops working and as we all know thats what will happen eventually, hopefully not so fast though. I wish everyone well

My neurosurgeon is at NYU. Good place. My oncologist is at NSUH. I live in Long Island. Good your numbers went down like that. This is a very good sign. Mine just kept stable. Is your oncologist Dr. Muggia? I have seen him and he's a nice doctor.

good call - Dr Muggia is my doctor. We live in Manhattan, funny thing is that my son was born at NSUH, 24 years ago - great hospital.

My best friend was diagnosed with Stage 3 ovca in Jan. 07. After hysterectomy and debulking, just completed 6 rounds of chemo, CA125 came down from 5000 to 23, but recently began rising (before finishing chemo) to 41.  CAT scan clear, but dr. wants to continue on some maintenance chemo in the office.  Unsure if anyone has had similiar experience. We thought her body would have a chance to recover from chemo effects for the next few months.  Any thoughts appreciated.

My thoughts are if she can tolerate the maintenance  go for it   kill every one of those cells as fast as you can   I wish my daughter had been offered  chemo continuing after the 6th   might have staved off the 2 recurrances
