CT Scan reliability?

by megan69487, Aug 24, 2003 12:00AM
I had a CT Scan done 1 1/2 years ago, was called immediately and told I was to see ob/gyn.  The ob/gyn said report mentioned mass "highly suspicious for malignancy".  She was certain it was only adenomyosis and did hyst, leaving ovaries in.  She also said she was surprised that uterus didn't look worse, considering ct report.

Still having problems 6 months later, ended up being seen by head of ob/gyn dept. and after she'd looked through biopsy, surgery and ct reports...sent me for an ultrasound, because she said there was an ovarian mass that wasn't biopsied, because ob/gyn felt it was an endometrioma. Ultrasounds were unable to locate left ovary with both pelvic or transvaginal and it was left at that.

A year later, having pains that have been waking me from sleep, I was seen again and surgery to remove ovaries was recommended by head of dept, but wants to have the ob/gyn perform it again, but to make sure the head of dept is also available, because she said she has some serious questions for her.

Before doing surgery, ob/gyn suggested ultrasound...which found several cystic masses and radiologist said they were surprised that left side wasn't painful...when they did the right side, had trouble finding it again and used doppler, which looked like a large blue area.  The radiologist has suggested to follow up soon and I have an appt mid Sept.  What I'm curious about is, could what was seen in ct scan (dr admitted she never did see the scan itself) and the mass noted on ovary during surgery, be the same thing that's on ultrasound now?  I appreciate it...thank you.
