Caelyx/Doxil Side Effects

Hi All
My mum has had 2 treatments of Caelyx/Doxil.

She can't really eat alot without feeling full, has wind, indigestion and tummy pains.

Are these side effects of this chemo?

Thanks

Hi Ang80,
It is so common to be constipated during chemo, this would give you all these symptoms. If this is the case, ask your onocologist about what laxative to take if it as appropriate as you do not say what type of cancer she has. Ginger tea helps with digestion. Chewing food really really well helps. Having an antiemetic (maxolon if prescribed) half hour prior to dinner helps a person be more able to eat. If able have some natural juices, carrot, apple celery, ginger, beetroot is a nice mix and it will give a boost of energy and get the bowels going. Combining food appropriatly also helps digestion and reduce post eating bloating. Dont mix meat with carbohydrates; vegetarian proteins & carbos are less blaoting. Meat and vegetables or salad are ok.
It is also a good idea to ensure you are not constipated prior to chemo, then the strong antiemetics given with chemo cause less constipation.

I am sure that someone will come along that has been on this chemo cocktail....

Have you spoken with the doctors/nurses?  Have they offered any advise?

Sending positive thoughts to you and your family.
