I had my uterus removed when I was 23 yrs old, than 6 months later I had my right ovary removed. I have suffered with severe endometriosis since about age 15. I'm now 37, and 2 yrs ago I had my left ovary removed due to a baseball size cyst. Unfortunatly the Doctor informed me that he was unable to completely remove all of the ovary due to something about everything being fused to my urethra, thanks to the endometriosis..... He also stated that there were 3 kelley (spelling?) clamps left on the left side, which made him think that the other Doctor had tried to remove the left ovary at the time he took the right one and ran into bleeding problems, and got out when he could. I should mention during that time I had spent 9 long days in the hospital.... he had also punctured my bladder. Not a pleasant experience! Being 23 and all.... I recovered very well from this last one 2 years ago, except I started having the same terrible pain again. It's happened a few times now, every couple months. This time I couldn't handle the severe pain and called the Doctor. He saw me right away and has set me up for some additional tests. After my examination he thinks that my ovary has grown back and that I do have another cyst, and that it's (the ovary and the cyst) are attached to the top of my vagina. Is this possible? Can an ovary really grow back because he was unable to remove all of the tissue? It would certainly explain why during the month I still go through my normal mood swings and some cramping, ect... I have never experienced not even one "hot flash". Any thoughts on this? Thanks!
I AM ASKING THIS SAME QUESTION. I HAD A HYSTERECTOMY WITH MY TUBES AND OVARIES REMOVED WHEN I WAS 30. I AM 48 NOW AND JUST TOLD I HAVE A RIGHT OVARY AND IT HAS A 7MM AND A 11MM CYST GROWING ON IT. I DIDN'T KNOW THEY COULD GROW BACK! THAT WOULD EXPLAIN WHY IS HAVE I HAVE BEEN SEEING THE STICKY EGG WHITE LIKE SUBSTANCE AS IF I WERE OVULATING.
I am another to add to the list. I had a complete hysterectomy done in 2005, with one ovary not removed. I started to have some endometriosis symptoms about two years ago & had an ultrasound & the ovary that was removed showed up with a cyst or more on it! I am very bewildered by this but I asked my mother & she too had an ovary regrow. I guess maybe it is more common than anyone thought. I have an appointment with the gynecologist that did the hysterectomy coming up. Hopefully he will be able to suggest something & finally have these symptoms under control, as this is not just physically uncomfortable but I am also depressed frequently & just want to have this taken care of which I thought had already been taken care of!!
Hello, I thought this was not possible but know i realize that it is. I too had my uterus and left tubes and ovary removed Dec. 2006. They left my right ovary , because it looked okay they said. Well in August 2007 I starting hurting on my right side , my doctor said oh take this pain medicine it will go away. I started off with mild pain by Dec. 2007 I was having very severe pains. Well, I thought be cause I had taken on a second job that it had something to do with it by Feb. 2008 my right foot started back swellen, the pain was getting worser so I quit my second job. I went to my doctor and they did a series of test to find out that I had 2 cyst on my right ovary the (oh so) good one. They removed the cyst , ovary and tubes in April 2008. Found out I had a ruptured cyst that was bleeding and severe scarring. All was removed but now I am experiencing on some days very severe and sharp pains almost like labor pains sometimes. Come to find out that my ovary has grown back on the right side and I have 2 cyst that's causing the pain. I have leg pain, my right foot swells, and the pain medications is causing me to be constipated , I refuse to be cut on anymore, by the way I had my tonsils out Dec. 08. I am waiting now for my insurance to approve me to get injections to dissolve the cyst and regrown ovary. Just patiently waiting on some relief...
Hey, my name is Sarah. On Dec. 7, 2009 I had my left ovarie removed as well as a watermoelon size cyst growning on it. Its been 7 months and I am now having very bad cramps on the left side where my left ovarie used to be. I had heard once before that is it ( all though very rare) possible for a ovarie to grow back. I'm now wondering if this is what's happening to me.
