Can someone advise about this please?

hello. this is my first time to this board. cancer runs in my family, from lung cancer to cervical cancer. lately, for about a month now, i have had pain during intercourse. the pain is on the right side near my ovaries. during intercourse it felt as though someone was inserting a sharp tube up me on that side, and it hurt really bad. i also experience pain there from time to time when i'm not engaging in intercourse. i will get the pain when i'm sitting or trying to go to sleep. i had gone to my ob/gyn and he gave me a pelvic exam and stated i should get a pelvic/transvaginal ultrasound done, to rule out cysts or anything else. i go for my appointment in two weeks and i am kind of nervous. what else should i look for? thanks, pb.

Your pain could be from many things you are doing the right thing by going to the doctors right away. Dont worry until you have the trans ultra done and they see something. you may have a simple cyst. You didnt mention how old you are. cyst are very common in child bearing years, and usually go away on there own. But it is best to air on the safe side considering your family history.
