Carbo and Taxol reaction.

by Ang80, Dec 16, 2007 03:57PM
Mum is having carboplatin and taxol for her first reoccurance.
She had her second dose of 2nd line treatment last Friday. The taxol went in fine but half way through the carboplatin she felt strange and went red. They gave her a bag of piriton (antihistamine) and carried on the rest of the carboplatin but slowed the infusion down. She has been fine since.
Does this mean she won't be able to have c and t, or is this normal?
Thanks

Hi there,
She may have developed an allergy to carboplatin. You should talk to her doctor about that. if she has a carbo allergy, it can be very dangerous to re challenge her with carbo except in a special very slow 24 hour infusion. We usually send people who have carbo reactions to see an allergist to get tested for allergy.

take care
