Chances of ovarian cancer

by Barbara915, Jun 23, 2009 02:53PM
I recently had a CAT scan indicating mesenteric nodularity within the left lateral adbomen 1.4 cm - Ultrasound indicates normal size ovaries.  Both indicate small to moderate free fluid within the pelvis (particulate debris is present within the fluid).  No obious adnexal mass.  Uterus has 4.2 cm fundal uterine leiomyoma, endometrium is 8.1 and 4-mm endomentrial cyst in upper uterine body.  My CEA was .4 - colonoscopy and endoscopy was clear.  CA125 is 140.  I have history of fibrocystic disease and lypomas.  Have an apt. w/ GYN oncologist in morning.  What are the chances of ovarian cancer?

Hi Barbara,
It is not possible to make a diagnosis without a biopsy. However, with the finding of your CT scan, you need to have surgery as the next step. This might be a laparoscopy to look and biopsy or an incision. That will depend on physical exam and the sense of the gyn oncologist who sees you.
