Changing Chemotherapy regimen

Changing Chemotherapy regimen

My mother is 60 year-old with stage IV endometrial cancer S/P TAH with BSO. After much contemplation, the doctor (at Bangkok), decided to treat her with single agent DOXORUBICIN 60 mg/m. sq. (90 mg) IV slowly every 3 weeks.

I understand, standard therapy for ovarian cancer includes a platinum  agent (carboplatin or paclitaxol) and a taxane(paclitaxol or docetaxel).  However, considering the patient's condition and advance stage it was doctor's decision to go with doxorubicin. She already have had a first cycle of
doxorubicin out of 6 cycles. My question is should we continue doxorubicin or switch to paclitaxol + carbolpatin combination? The doctor's suggestion is that it does not make sense to switch chemotherapy mid-stream unless

1. The side effects are such that the drug cannot be tolerated;
or
2.
The disease progresses while on the drug.  Otherwise, it makes the most sense to see what the activity of the doxorubicin will be before considering a switch.

The patient's side effects are not severe. The physical condition and blood counts are within normal limit.
There is apparently no evidence of progression, although we have not done MRI after first cycle.

Please let us know if it would be wise to switch or continue doxorubicin. It's a serious decision for us to make.  Please help.

My mother was diagnosed with OVCA almost three years ago. Her doctor (at BKK) treated her with Taxol+Carbo for 6 cycles. My mom got minimal side effects for this combination. Yes, she got pre and post med to control those adverse side effects.  She got 15 months NED (no evidence of disease). She has been on chemo since..
