Complex Ovarian Cysts

Hi everyone. I started having pain in my lower right abdomen about 6 months ago, first ultrasound said just functional cyst... ok went back 2 months later....2nd ultrasound said functional cyst. Went back again and this 3rd time had an internal ultrasound which said complex cyst with solid debris It's quite large i cannot remember exactly how large but it was around 4ish cm. My doctor said he'll book the MRI to get a closer look and is most likely nothing to worry about but cancer cannot be ruled out.
My question is... how many of you have had this type of cyst turn out to be cancer and how many have it turn out to be nothing tto worry about? how does this form of cyst typically grow? will it go away on its own without surgery?
I am a 25 year old mother of 3, no family history of cancer though my mother had a historectomy due to large uterine fibroids... if that helps any.

Thanks so much

Sorry  not had gotten back to you sooner.  Hate to admit but did not ask what kind of cyst or anything about it.  My doctor had been watching it for a couple of years and at my last annual it had grown and came back three months later and it went from 5 cm to 8.5 cm.  I am 62 years old and really have not come to terms with having cancer.  Am still waiting for the additional testing on my "stains" prior to going to a specialist.  By reading this column have so much more that I will be asking.

I just had my left ovary and fallopian tube removed because of a cyst that actually wrapped around the fallopian tube.  Had the CA125 blood test prior to surgery which showed no cancer.  Have no cancer on either side in my family.  Am 62 years old.  Doctor felt there was no cancer but the pathology came back and shows ovarian cancer.  Now waiting to meet with specialist as soon as all the tests come back.  My doctor said that everything will have to be removed.

I had complex cyst 2 years ago, and as far as I know they do not go away on the own.  You are pretty young, and the possibility of it being cancer is very rare.  I had a dozen or so fibroids, and adhesions, so I opted for a hysterectomy, and my left ovary removed.  I was able to keep my right ovary since the mass ended up being benign.  Now I have a Hemorrhagic cyst inside my right ovary that is now causing me problems.  I may have to have this cyst removed since I no longer have periods anymore.  I've had it for about 3 months.  Good luck to you, I'm sure everything will be fine, it's great that you are getting an MRI that way you will know for sure.  Ask your doc to take the CA125 test.

hi
was your cyst a complex cyst?  Did you have alot of pain?  What kind of ovarian cancer is it?  I guess that really does prove the CA 125 blood test aint worth squat.  Please share more what your symptoms were.  I have a complex cyst that will come out Monday.  Im deathly afraid of cancer.

I think there is a 50/50 of having cyct that can be cancer after menopause . But as for pre-menopause person there is only 1 - 2% of being cancer.  Could yours be an endometrosis cycts coz endo cycts is also consider solid component and/or describe as complex cycts.

I have 2 endo cycts at my left ovary (1 measure 12 mm and another measure 11 mm) and also have PCOS at my right ovary.  Doctor gave oral contraceptive pills to see whether it will shrink but I'm not taking it coz scared got side effect. I'm taking Melilea Greenfield Organic supplement once a day (in the morning) to see whether it helps.  If it keeps growing, I guess I have to do surgery which I hated most.  I had the same operated 4 years ago but it relapsed and I'm 34 years old with 2 children. Besides that, I can only commit it to the LORD and I believe He knows us deeply.

i believe 1 to 2 % turn out to be malignant.  I have a complex cyst now on my left ovary and I don't know how long its been there since it was discovered in July.  Im getting it removed cause i have to have surgery for a prolapsed uterine fibroid so the Doc said he'd go ahead and do the laparoscopy at the same time.  Don't know if they go away on their own.  I wish I could know that answer too.  I guess they form from simple cysts into complex ones which have a thin wall in them and some solid components to them.
