Complex ovarian cyst

by pookee, Apr 08, 2007 12:00AM
Experienced pelvic pain  with radiated to back, eventually had ultrasound with revealed mild enlargement (4.3 cm x 2.8 cm) of ovary with complex cystic/solid lesion.  Age is 21. I have appointment with gyn. on Fri.  What options might I face, will any type surgery be recommended?

Hi There,
The first thing we do in a situation like this is to repeat the ultrasound after a menstrual cycle. Most cysts will be gone after a menstrual cycle. the second is to start the birth control pill. If a cyst persists or grows, that would be a reason to look at it and remove it with surgery
best wishes
