Complex ovarian cyst

by Labrador2242006, Oct 22, 2007 06:34PM
I am a 27 yr. old recently diagnosed with a complex ovarian cyst measuring 2cm by 2.7cm in the right ovary with the right ovary being 2cm? by 3.6cm and a 1.6cm follicle from or attached by the uterus.  My grandma on my mom's side of the family passed away from ovarian cancer in 1993, my mom had a hysterectomy in 1997 with fibroid uterine tumors, and my sister has had endometreios surgery approx 3-5 yrs. ago.  It has also been mentioned to me that I have a septate uterus (which doesn't concern me).  I have lower back pain, thigh, buttocks, groin, nausea, and vomiting plus a feeling of fullness in my abdomen.  Should this be something where it should be addressed the sooner the better?  I thank you so much for your time and input.

First of all most cysts are benign and benign cysts can cause pain/symptoms.
It is most likely not ovarain cancer, (even with a family history), but because your are experiencing symptoms, I would have Ob/Gyn keep an eye on it with follow-up ultrasounds every 6 weeks.

Are your symptoms present every day or do they come and go?

What does your current doctor think?

If symptoms get worse, go back to Ob/Gyn right away, don't say "oh it's probably nothing".

Good luck and keep intouch.
