Complex ovarian cysts

I am 25 years old, have two children and a tubaligation about 3 years ago. About 4 years ago i had my first ovarian cyst rupture on me and had the cyst removed by surgery at that time. Ever since then i have continued to get them about every 6 months or so. At least I think thats what was causing my pain. Recently i changed Ob gyns and they did an endovaginal ultrasound to see what was going on. The findings came back as my right ovary A 4.3x3.1x2.7cm and demonstrates an anechoic 2.6x2.4x2.3cm mass with minimal hypoechic debris. The impression notes from the radiologist says minimally complex right cystic adenexal mass which most likely represents a corpus luteum cyst with debris versus a hemorrhagic cyst. with a thickened endometrial stripe. What does this mean? I am worried that i may have endometriosis or ovarian cancer. My period was late almost 2 months I finally started the day after i had my endovaginal ultrasound. If my endometrium was thickened is there a chance that because of the thickness could there still be endometriosis that the radiologist couldnt see? Could this be a possibility?

I don't know if my comments are helpful since I'm new here as well. Also because of some concern over a right anexal mass. I wondered if corpus luteum cyst could cause that.

Mine is showing up as a questionable screen since they seem to like to see clear cysts without the complex solid stuff in it. The solid stuff seems to require more watchfulness than a clear one. And they don't tend to clear up on their own.

I've been looking at everything I can on this site, Johns Hopkins, Harvard, etc for info on complex masses and explanations for them. Your situation was listed as one.

I am also hopeful to read that almost always these things are not cancer. And if it is a corpus luteum cyst, it just means the cyst formed after you ovulated. Apparently the follicle formed is called a corpus luteum and they usually don't form a cyst. But they can and are considered functional cysts. Functional cysts are supposed to go away on their own but it may take a few months. If you have another ultra sound next month, it could be that the cyst will be gone. If its still there, then they would want to look at it more closely.

Anyway, that's how I understand it.

My exam resulted from a late period (Day 35 instead of the usual 24) that then went on for 22 days with alternate light, medium to heavy than back to light, and  so on.

Sounds like I have an on-top of it gynocologist who ran all the tests to make sure. I'm hoping to learn today that they just want to do another ultrasound first to see. I also had to take the CA-125 blood test, but I'm also aware that test may not be accurate.

Corpus Luteum cyst is a normal monthly cyst. A hemorrhagic cyst usually goes away on its own too.  It does appear to be as scary as they make it sound sometimes.

Welcome.  Just try to remember that 99% of ovarian cysts are benign, however this does not mean that you are to ignore your symptoms.  I am glad that you are seeking treatment.  You should get a 2nd opinion from a gyn/onc as they are specialists in the female reproductive area.  You are in my thoughts and prayers.  Godspeed

Thank you very much for the info. But i do have one more question. Since i hadnt had a period in almost 2 months (just started last thurs. and now have been bleeding for 9 days) is it possible that because of the thickened endometria that there could be endometriosis? I dont know much about the subject, but i was just wonderin if it is possible?
