Corpus Luteum Cysts

Hi Ladies,

Have any of you ever heard of a cysts called Corpus Luteum. I had my second opinion on Friday and she says that she think that is what was on my left ovary, along with another mark that looked kind of like a burn. From my understanding they are harmless. I had been having lower right side pain b/f and after my hysterectomy. A few weeks b/f my sec opinion, I began to have pain on the left side. I did not say anything to my doc, when it first began, I had been complaining sooo much about my right side, that I thought the pain in the left may have been in my mind. Now I don't think that it is in my mind......Ronda

From the "more information than you need" department -  Corpus Luteum means "yellow body," or more precisely, Body Yellow as Corpus means body and Luteum means yellow.  Anyway, if I am recalling this information correctly, then the Corpus Luteum cyst is the term for the  monthly functional cyst after the 'egg' has been released but before the cyst resolves (goes away.)   After the release of the 'egg,' the contents of the cyst turn  yellow, hence the name.
