Could it be ovarian cancer or just a simple massive lump?

Hi there. Im an 18 year old who discovered about a year ago and a half ago i had a tiny golf ball size lump in my ovary section i went to two doctors about this a month apart and both checked around and said nothing was wrong it's properly nothing. Half way through last year i noticed they were different size but didn't take much notice as two doctors said it was nothing.

I went back to the doctor only two months ago as i've been having discomfort in the area, abit of sharp pain and my lumps arn't called little anymore there massive something people wouldn't call "normal", The bottom of my stomach where my ovaries are is all swollen on both sides, Im quite a thin person so it's easy to tell and when i try suck in the swolleness there's just two big lumps there that you can touch.

The doctor finally ordered me an ultrasound and pee samples after seeing them and hearing i've been experiencing some very unusally periods that even im confused with. The point of this post is im scared to death with these lumps i know it's not normal having things poke out of your skin in your ovary section, i've already put of my appointment once ( i know dumb idea) but i was frightened. Has anyone else experienced this or having them now? or anyone might know what it could be?

If ovarian cancer wasn't a word or a risk factor to people i wouldn't be as worried about going in, but it's been going on for to long and it may be something simple and i will only know when i get the ultra sound just getting it alone is **** scary and also my grandma had it so i know it's something that was once in the family.

It's natural to be scared.  It's important to be proactive in your health.  It sounds odd that your ovaries would be protruding so much, could be swollen lymph nodes, who knows.  The one thing I hate to hear is a doctor saying, you are too young to get cancer.  I am sorry, but cancer does not discriminate.  I am not saying you have cancer, but you have to be pro-active with you health, and you know that something is not right with your body and you don't feel right and you need know what test to demand.

good luck and keep us posted.

It could be some kind of benign cyst too. Most ovarian cysts are benign. I had some bathroom problems and a dull ache in my lower left side. I could feel a lump there but thought I was just full of poo. LOL  Turned out to be a 10 cm (the size of an orange) cyst. They removed it, it was NOT cancer and thank goodness, my bathroom issues resolved. :-)

Don't put off getting it checked thoroughly. It sounds like you're scheduled for the transvaginal ultrasound. It's not painful but a bit embarrassing. Still, it's a better view of what's going on in there.
