Cranberries again

Cranberries May Improve Chemotherapy for Ovarian Cancer – New research, while preliminary, offers exciting possibilities to ovarian cancer sufferers in the form of the cranberry.

Platinum-based chemotherapy is the basis for treating ovarian cancer, but with repeated exposure and treatments, the cancer cells tend to become resistant to the therapy. As a result, doctors must increase the dosage of the chemo and burden the patients with even more side effects. Rutgers University researchers Ajay P. Singh, Ph.D. and Nicholi Vorsa, Ph.D.found that human ovarian cancer cells that were resisting platinum drugs, become up to six times more receptive to the drugs after being exposed to cranberry compounds.

This was a google ad sent to me,  copy and paste it to your word pad and then print it out   Leslee is eating the cranraisens, drinks cranberry juice daily and  she told me just today that she is feeling at about 90% better than since the beginning . she is still on doxil, but is using  some good suppliments,  I get the google ads every night  all pertaining to OVCA.  she is awaiting the birth of her second grand child any day now.  Will know the 17th if the scan shows good or bad results.  after talking to her today I felt a weight lifted from my heart.  I ask God every night to hold her in His arms.   I make a delicious cranberry salad, from cooked cranberries, celery, walnuts, Knox geletin, sugar,  we have it year round. I also make cranberry bread.  Take care Hazel and tell your Mom hi from us.

Yes I read the same article a couple of weeks ago...I have started taking cranberry extract daily but wondering how much I should or should not take...right now I take 300mg x 3..don't drink or eat them cause of the sugar content so sticking to softgels only...Hoping this will help with next chemo as I think after 10 times carbo/taxol,  I am starting to become platinum resistant as I had some kind of reaction the last two times.

Hi, Kimchi,

(I'm "belonging" another forum about ovca but found yours incidentally). A good idea to use cranberry without sugar is to buy pure cranberry juice, but as it is very difficult to drink it without sugar, I use it in any salad, remplacing vinegar.... it is delicious !

Good luck and good appetite
