D and C for Ovarian Cancer??

D and C for Ovarian Cancer??

Hello,

I am 38 years old and have never had children. My mom died of ovarian cancer in the early 80's, (she was 42)her dad died of pancreatic cancer and her sister is in remission from recent breast cancer. In other words, I'm considered "high-risk."

About 13 mos. ago, I had a transvaginal u/s which came out normal but showed a cyst. My pap was normal too. At the time, I was having some irregular (between period) but not heavy,  bleeding. Sometimes, bright red, sometimes brown. I went to the OBGYN. In addition to the u/s I was supposed to get a DandC to rule out anything else. I put it off and felt comfortable with the u/s results but am now kicking myself for not having it done.

Reason? Lately, I have had lower back and abdominal pain on my left side and irregular bleeding. My period ended nearly two weeks ago and I have small traces of bloody mucous, red and brown, again with the ovarian pain on the left side. The period previous to my last was horribly painful (quite unusual for me).  The weird thing is, the pain and the bleeding between periods comes and goes and is never very heavy. I am always tired and feel bloated. I also feel a little burning in the lower abdomen, as if there is some inflammation.

While I suspect this could be a cyst, I am worried that this could be a sign of advance ovarian cancer. If not perhaps cervical. Any feedback? Thanks so much in advance.
