DAUGHTER CYST

DAUGHTER CYST

My right ovary is 4.1x2.8x39 cm contains a 3.4x2.5x3.4 cyst with daughter cyst 5mm as posterior of large cyst. (which by the way is very painful)

My left ovary ms 2.9x1.2x2.0 is larger then last exam 1.9x1.1x1.7cm

I understand that they want to remove my right ovary due to the cyst. I have already had my uterus removed and if at all possible would like to salvage at least the left one.  I believe that if I have at least one ovary functioning or 1/3 of the ovary left I will not go into instant menopause, and I will not require hormone therapy,  since I have my mother and grandmother both had breast cancer and where advice not to take any type of hormonal therapy?

Can you tell me if this is possible or what are my choices?  Please and thank you.

I would suggest, if possible, that you see a GYN/ONC and discuss all the options with them.  No, not that I think that you have cancer at all, they are the experts in all gynocological issues.  You have a history of cancer, breast cancer, in the family, and with  your mother and grandmother both having Breast Cancer, it is possible that there is a genetic link.  Have either one of them been tested for BRAC 1 or 2 gene?

I do not know about genetics and Breast cancer, but I know that 1st line relatives having Breast, Colon or Ovarian cancer raises the risk of being dx'd with OvCa by about 10 percent.....being genetically pre-disposed raises the rate to about 40 percent.

I agree that HRT is out of the question.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Thank you so much I will find out as soon as I can get in to see a GYN/ONC  I don't beleieve I have had the test for BRAC 1 or 2 gene?  I have always heard about it never new the exact name.  So far colon is ok I have just had it done and I am clear there.  I have been told I have a cyst on my breast which I have had an ultrasound and a momogram is following in November.

My grandmother at the age of 87 was diagnose with intestinal cancer I beleive they called it.  Yes it is the same grandmother.  SO I will make sure that I get that BRAC 1 or 2 Gene test done.

Could you answer this question, sorry to keep imposing on you.  Who performes this test?  Should I request this test from my family doctor?  or where should I go for it?  Thank you in advance for all of your assistance, and advice.
