Hello All,
A quick post on behalf of Deandra. Yesterday we received the results from her latest PET scan, and they were not encouraging. Her bowel blockagePeripheral artery disease, which was initially diagnosed as MesentericMesenteric arteriography Mesenteric artery ischemia Artery Syndrome, turns out to be metastasisOvarian cancer metastasis Spleen metastasis - ct scan of the disease on top of her liver. After six days intravenousIntravenous Intravenous pyelogram Intravenous pyelogram (ivp)liquidLiquid barosperse Liquid calcium with vitamin d Liquid co-q10 Liquid e-z paque Liquid pedvaxhib Liquid polibar Liquid pred nutrition, we are back in the hospital. The idea behind the TPN (liquid nutrition ) was to have Deandra gain weight, in hopes of the MAS correcting itself. However with the blockage coming from a tumor rather than the MAS, the surgeon decided that surgery was the only option at this point. The official name of the procedure is Gastro je Junostomy! Dr. Jones (who is the best) will loop her bowel into her stomach in order to bypass the blockage and hopefully have Deandra eating and feeling better in the very near future. Although the surgery is simple in a normal abdomen. Deandra with her numerous surgeries in that region makes the procedure a bit more complicated. Deandra asked me to post this update in hopes of receiving some extra prayers during this difficult time. As I finish typing this, Deandra is being carted off to her procedure. To those that read this, please pray for a successful surgery and speedy recovery. Thanks. Luke.
Oh, so glad you posted this so we can all pray for Deandra. I am so very sorry she is going through this. I will lift up my prayers Deandra, for a successful surgery and a good recovery. I am so glad you have your family and Luke with you. Hugs, Colleen
Becky, thanks for posting. Sometimes it's hard for me to keep everyone straight, but if I remember correctly Jan told me about Deandra's destination wedding. It sounded so romantic. The invite came in a little bottle filled with sand and seashells and the invite was in the bottle. It was so neat. I'm praying that she will come through this and she can continue her romantic life with her new husband.
Becky, I hope you are doing better as well. Love Lisa
Adding my prayers for a quick and successful surgery. I'm confident they can reattach her "plumbing" and help her feel better. Just getting past the adhesions will be the challenge. If anyone has an update after her surgery, we'd love to know how it went.
My prayers are with you too, sweetie. We've only communicated a couple of times when I first joined MedHelp, but ever since then, you've been close to my heart. I pray for a speedy recovery as I know you will come through this with flying colors.
I've copied an excerpt from a private message I sent to you long ago. I hope that Luke will see it and read it to you when you have recovered from this surgery. These words still hold true even after two years:
"your exuberant comments are always a welcomed sight. You bring a lot of positive energy to many...more than you may know
...So, this is just a "hello" to say that I'm thinking of you with no strings attached. I remember some very wise words from a very bright young lady and I quote:
Attitude is everything.
Be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.
Live simply,
Love generously,
Care deeply,
Speak kindly.......
Leave the rest to God
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass...
It's about learning to dance in the rain"
You see Deandra, I hold your words in my heart and I hope others, which have never seen your poem will feel the strength in these words.
My best wishes, prayers and hopes that you will recover miraculously and once again, "dance in the rain."
I got the message on Facebook last night that one of your friends sent out. It seems like you can't catch a break! You are always in my thoughts and prayers, but I will say some special ones today for a successful procedure and a very quick recovery. You know if I ever actually do get to Boulder to get my hair done, I want YOU to do it! :)
Deandra and Luke,
My thoughts and prayers are with both of you for Deandra's speedy recovery. I've met Deandra--what a wonderful young woman! I live in Greeley; please let me know if you need any help during her recoveries. Write to me at this forum and I'll drop everything and be there.
