Dermoid tumors, but elevated CA125...possible cancer?

by heatherr73, Sep 27, 2004 12:00AM
I am a healthy 31 yo woman with two children.  I had my annual exam 8/26 where my GYN thought she found a fibroid.  I went in for ultrasounds on 9/24 and found out that there is no fibroid, but tumers on both of my ovaries, one side larger than the other.  GYN believes they are dermoid, and does not think it is cancer(no fluid in abdomen/the blood supply to the tumors/no risk factors or symptoms). She scheduled surgery and I had blood drawn for CA125(just to be sure). My value came back elevated at 87.1, and now I am scheduled for an appt with a GYN oncologist for review and sugery.  My GYN told me that she feels "95% or higher" that it is benign, but I am still so worried.  Can anyone give my any insight or thoughts?

Thanks!

Heather
