Diagnosed

Hi Dr. Goodman
I am 29 years, old have one child (19 month old daughter) and have been diagnosed with ovarian caner stage 1 T1c. It began when I had a large cyst that contained a solid component in my right ovary removed. The solid component revealed it was edometrioid adenocarcinoma. The ovary was not removed b/c pending the pathology report. My CA 125 level was not high at all , I believe a 7 and then 11 three months later. I went for a second opinion with Sloan Kettering Hospital in New York City, I am awaiting the pathology report and CT scan from them. I am scheduled for surgery the 19th. I am still indecided whether to have a full hysterectomy or not. The initial response from the two doctors I have seen is to remove the ovary and biopsy all of the other areas for spreading. Followed by chemo, regardless of the findings. I am nervous and are leaning towards the full hysterectomy. I am afraid if I don't remove everything it will come back. What are the success rates for women who have had this having children afterwards and actually surviving??? Is the hysterectomy the best bet???

You have posted on the person to person side, not for Dr. Goodman.  The Dr.'s site is the first forum and it takes only a couple of questions a day, so keep trying.  My thoughts are with you, sorry you got this damn diagnosis also.
