Differential Diagnosis Please :)

I am a 22 year old female. Since puberty I have had pain in my lower abdominal region. I shrugged it off as normal. About 3 years ago I was having some pretty significant pain and had an ultrasound. The ultrasound showed a complex cyst in my left ovary. Nothing was done. Last August (2009), I was having some really bad pain and ended up going to the emergency room. I had a cyst that had ruptured and was given pain meds. A few monts later I asked my grandmother to pull my records for me and found out that I was supposed to have a follow up with my gynecologist due to a mass appearing in the left ovary. So, I found a doctor. In April, the mass was solid and encapsulated in my left ovary measuring 12mmx12mmx12mm. I told the doctor that I wanted to wait a few months and see if it would grow before I did anything. She agreed and set up a FU for three months with another ultrasound. I've gone back and it now measures 16x16x16mm. She told me she was no longer going to give me the option to wait and she wanted to remove it laproscopically. Soooo, my question is what could this be? I know it is relatively small and solid. Teratoma maybe? Just wondering what some other possibilities could be. Thanks in advance!

I'm sorry you didn't get a sooner response to your post, but I'd ask my doctor to send me to a GYN/ONC surgeon to remove the mass. The mass has grown and that's a concern and you should see the doctor who specializes in female organ diseases.

You should have a scan and a CA125 blood test done and I'm sure a specialist would order tests before surgery.
