Do my symptoms sound like a cyst?

For the last few months I have had a general bloating and aching feeling in my right abdoman.  I have felt the odd sharp twinge over my right overy near the hip, which I mentioned to my nurse and she thought it was a change in my menstrual cycle as she could not feel a lump near my overy and it was not painfull to touch. Last week for 5 days I had servere stabbing pains in the right side of my abdoman under my ribs. I had (and still do have) back ache on the right side. I am due to start my period tomorrow and now have a constant dull ache around my right hip and in my upper thigh. My Dr thought it was gallstones and sent me for an ultrasound scan and blood tests which didnt show anything unusual. He now has no idea what it was. Does any of this sound familar? I am on the contraceptive pill and my periods have not changed.

Hi All,

I've been suffering from endo as well. It sucks to have to live like this! I've read that using bcps or other hormonal drugs are not necessarily enough to cure endo. You need to cut out sugar (all of it - so that means chocolate too), caffiene (black teas, coffee, chocolate), wheat and other yeasts (oat, bran, rye, quiona, brown rice and whole grains are good for you), and ALL dairy products. There are also quite a few great herbs you can use and sitz baths, exercise routines. Aside from the cysts, adhesions that can bind the organs together are what cause a lot of pain (the horrendous pain we're all too familiar with) and keeping the Chi (or energy) moving in the abdominal cavity is most important. So, if you're sitting down all day, use a stay ball for a couple of hours etc.
You're biggest weapon against this vile disease is in YOUR hands not in a pill. It's your nutrition and exercise regime. Some good books are:  Endometriosis, A Key to healing and fertility through nutrition, Mills and Vernon. Also, The Endometriosis Natural Treatment Program, Worwood and Stonehouse. Good luck to one and all! Take control of your health on your own terms!

I am suffering yet again with endometriosis-I had the surgery 11 years ago and had 16 places removed. The syptoms that I had were pain-like hard cramping-at times very painful, heavy periods, headaches, sickness (like someone else said-like motion sickness). All of these went away after the surgery.
You could be experiencing endometriosis but you could also have fybroid tumors (benign tumors in your uterus). I have known a few people who have had this condition and the symptoms are very much like you described. They have to do a vaginal sonogram to determine this (not that big of a deal-had this done as well).
Hope you get some answers and some relief soon.

I had endometeriosis Aug 04 that was removed and now have a 7 cm endometrioma. Symtoms pain in back - especially when laying flat on my back, pain down my legs, pain on my right or left side where the ovaries are, heavy periods, feeling sick like travel sickness. Hope this all helps. Have a chat with you doctor again. Good luck and I hope they can sort it out for you. Fingers crossed.

Could very well be a cyst or painful ovulation.  A Cyst sounds more likely.

You have the same sypmtoms as me, even the under the rib thing and on the right side, I have a 4.something cm complex cyst on my right ovary. Just had my MRI to get a better look at it, waiting for the results. Could definitely be endo like Marple mentioned, I'm starting to think that's what I have.

Hi, has anyone thought it could be endometerosis that you may be suffering from?
