Does chemo affect the stomach?

Hi,

I am posting this message on behalf of my mother who was dx. for Ovarian Cancer in June of 2002.Had 4 rounds of Taxol/Carbo and surgery,she was in remission for almost 10 months but had a recurrence, they put her on Cisplatin/cyclopho- sphamide (6 rounds) she was in remission again, for about three months, but had another recurrence. in May she had a blockage+fluid build up, and stayed at Hospital for about 15 days without eating (just IV).We changed her doctor as he was very careless. As of last Month we are dealing with another doctor (very good, he put her on weelky taxol/carbo for three weeks then one week off,her stomach is getting smaller but she has pain around upper area of her stomach which goes all the way to her back and that's pretty severe sometimes. She takes Tylenol which helps but the pain comes up very often especially if she eats strong food.My question is: do you know if the chemo can damage the GI tract?
Just FYI. she has a bowel movement but most of the time it's diarreah (diarrhea) or watery.
