Dont understand what this means.

Hi Dr. thank you for answering all my recent posts.  We got my Moms CT scan report and Im not really sure to what it states exactly on the Conclusion part.  She requested this CT scan because she is expiriencing little lower abdomen pain.

Please explain to me exactly what this conclusion means.  When I spoke to her doctor regarding this report he sounded as if he was calming me down and preparing me for something in the future as if he knows that something is going on.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE tell me what this means.

THANK YOU SOOO MUCH

HISTORY:  Followup ovarian carcinoma

COMMENTS:  CT evaluation of the abdomen and pelvis was performed after the intravenous administration of 100 mls of Optiray-350. The exam is compared to two previous CT scans .

The sumcentimeter lymph nodes throughout the retroperitoneum are unchanged in size, number and appearance over the prior two examinations.  There is no abdomen, pelvic or inquinal lymphadenopathy or ascites.

The lungs bases are clear.  The liver, spleen, pancreas, kidneys and adrenal glands are normal.   There is no edema of the intra-abdomninal or intrapelvic fat.  The anterior abdominal wall is intact.

CONCLUSION:  Stable nonspecifi retroperitoneal lymph nodes.  No CT evidence of recurrent or metastatic carcinoma.

Hi Hazel,
I would say that that is a perfect report. It basically says - there are no changes from the previous exam which means that nothing has grown. And there are no radiological signs of growths that could represent cancer recurrence such as abnormal fluid or tumors. Those lymph nodes have not changed and may represent irritation or inflammation from previous surgery.
best wishes
