Doxil/Clinical Trial Phase II

Doxil/Clinical Trial Phase II

Saw the Dr. at MD Anderson and then to check into a clinical Trial Phase II. The drugs were similar to Avastan, blocking the blood vessels to the tumor. I may not be qualified due to my broken leg. My blood vessels to my leg would also be compromised. If that does not pan out, he thought I would be on Doxil. Has anyone been on Doxil? Success?  Side Effects?  I am Stage II, 54, and one 7cm tumor pressing on my colon. The tumor grew 1 cm while on Carbo/Taxol over 9 weeks.

Hi Conners,
I hope you get into that clinical trial, I hear such good things about Avastin and a similar working drug should be a good treatment choice for you.

It's a shame that the broken leg might disqualify you from the trial, maybe your oncologist can give you Avastin under his care.

I haven't had Doxil, so I can't help you there but I know a lot of the ladies on the forum will be along with their experiences.

Good luck and feel well,
Jane

I started a trial at MD Anderson last week with Doxil, Avastin and Torisel ( mTOR inhibitor)--all 3 drugs week one; Torisel on week 2 & 3.  My Gyn-Onc originally did not think I would qualify because of blood clot issues, but the clots are stable and I qualified for the above trial as well as the Taxotere/VEGF-Trap and Taxotere/Perifosine.  The Taxotere/VEGF-Trap trial appeared to be the most picky for qualifying.

So far the drugs are a breeze with the exception of mouth sores. I picked up some "magic mouthwash" today after my chemo.  It should help.

I am stage 4 clear cell with progression on first line chemo; liver mets doubled in the month off of chemo while getting some dental work done.  Obviously I am really hoping this clinical trial will work. sigh.

Hi Conners,
I left you note, I don't know if you saw it or check your notes on this forum, so I thought I'd let you know here.

Thanks~!
