Doxil Treatments

Hi all, I have not posted in a while but read comments everday.  I hope everyone is doing very well considering.  I just wanted to keep you informed about what is going on with me.  Well I had my 11th treatment of Doxil and a muga yesterday and I feel pretty good just a little  tired.  All the lymph nods are normal in size, but I still have a 3 cm tumor in pelvic area that is the same size, which is good, it's not growning and my heart is doing very well. My gums still gets sore, but I can handle that and I have two spots (rash) on my ankles that are sore, but other than that I am really doing well.  

History. diagnosed in 2002 stage 1c, grade 3 ov.  Had surgery and six rounds of taxol and carboplatin,  remission for 3 1/2 years.  Had first recurrence in April 2005 had six rounds of strong doses of carboplaing and in April 2006 second recurrence and been on Doxil every since but I am still claiming my healing and keeping my faith, I am in Gods hands now and if it is his will I will make it thru this storm and you will also just keep the faith.  Love and Prayers to you all.  God Bless

I don't sense any panic or fear in your voice...you, along with daylily and DianeB, and others who are walking the same path, are amazing women.....my heart is with you...your courage is remarkable.....it is unbelievable, actually.....mind bending....you ladies are my heroines....

Your story is so similar to mine.  I, too, was Dx in 2002 with Stage 1C Grade 3.  Went almost 5 years before recurrence (3 implants totally clean and removed),followed with 6 rds. taxol/carbo; now on yrs' maintenance.  So far, so good.  Would you mind my asking where your cancer recurred?  Why did they go with Doxil if it was such a long time since last occurence for you?  How come they didn't try carbo/taxol again?  Just wondering, as I am on only Taxol now and am wondering what they would put me on next, if this comes back.  I feel like it's my safety net now and I guess will always worry.  I pray for a full remission for you.  God Bless your strength and courage!

With my first recurrence my tumors was sent off for testing to see what kind of chemo would work.  Carboplatin did but only with strong doses.  I had a really bad time with the taxol with my first recurrence.  I fainted soon after they started the iv and I had to take it over a 5 hour period.  So my doctor decided not to do the taxol again and he said according to the tumor testing it would not work for me so thats why I only did the carboplating with my first recurrnece.  With my second recurrence I recurred six months after the treatment of my first recurrence.  He talked to me about the Doxil and was really excited about it and I was also so i decided to try it.
