Doxil frequency and dose

Doxil frequency and dose

Hi,
This Tuesday I'll have my 3rd Doxil treatment, I get 85mg once every 3rd week. My first was 70 then since I tolerated it well, we bumped it to 85mg.

My last CA did go down 67 points so we know it's working for me.

I'm curious to know the average dose and frequency of other ladies getting this chemo drug.

Have a good holiday weekend!

My dose is 59mg/ 279ml. I weight 100 lb.  I was also given Avastin 454mg at the same time. My cycle is every 4 wks.

It is great that Doxil is working for you, keep it up.

Hi Jun,
Thanks for your reply,
I understand that the dose is adjusted for body weight, and I'm much heavier than you are.

My oncologist is holding Avastin for future use, and I hear good results with it's use in OVCA treatments.. I understand that it will be easier to get it approved and paid for by the end of the year, and that's good news too.

I'm going to ask him why he gives me the treatment every 3 weeks, because the Doxil info. sheet says to give the infusion every 4 weeks. Maybe it's because I've been fighting this disease for 3 years now, I'm not sure so I'll put it on my list.

Do you have side effects with Doxil? I'm very fatigued, sleepy and have no appetite.

Take care of yourself,
Jane

It is hard for me to handle Doxil, especially after I got Neulastar injection 24hrs after having Doxil.  Extremely fatigue, no appetite, very low neutrophi and platlete.  I've also developed
fever a week later along with spine pain and last for 3-4 days which made me to stay in bed for most of the day.  My body is telling me that I have to stop chemo, need a bit time to regain some strength back, then start it again.  will have scan on16th, talk to dr on 23rd.
Hope you are doing better.
Peace and Love

Hi Jun,
I can see that you're having a hard time with your chemo treatment, and i agree with you that your body is sending you a message that it needs to rest and recuperate.

I also have the extreme fatigue, sleepiness and no appetite, so I know how you feel.

I've been on chemo pretty much straight for 3 years now, with only one or two short breaks.
Every time I get a clear scan my oncologist immediately stops treatments to let my body recover as much as it can before we have to start again.

Good luck with your scan and visit with your doctor, let me know how that goes.
