Dr. Goodman, Could this be Ovarian Cancer?

by LovelyLady1, Jun 25, 2009 11:36PM
Dear Dr. Goodman,

I have been trying to ask you a question for sometime now-I hope this gets to you.  I am a 30 year old young woman with many medical problems from microscopic colitis to pinched nerves, buldging discs & degenerating discs in my back to many issues with my periods and that region.  First of all my great grandmother died of Ovarian Cancer and my great uncles also had some form of cancer-not sure what kind.  I have always had heavy painful periods and issues with cysts.  Recently a cyst was spotted of 3.4 cm and after a while of going back every 6-8 wks to monitor it, the cyst (I believe it was a miracle) disappeared.  However prior to the disappearing cyst I bleed for a month straight-Now I am not bleeding at all-accept for a slight discharge-brown(sorry for graphics).  I still have the pain I had as if I did have the cyst but not as severe.  My Doctor is sending me to get a byopsy done to rule out any possible cancer cells because she said it is not normal to bleed for a month.  She did say it could also be hormonal.  I guess I am scared because I have so many other conditions and issues with my body as well as I am on so many medications as it is, plus with the microscopic colitis-isit possible it was misdiagnosed.  I am confused, nervous and just trying to educate myself as to what I need to know, what to watch out for (symptoms, etc.)  I am close to your office and perhaps I can schedule a visit to see youafter I get my byopsy done and get the results-what do think?  Please tell me all your thoughts on everything I just wrote.  Thank you so much for your time.  Sincerely,LovelyLady1
