ERT and Ovarian Cancer

At 26 yrs old, I was diagnosed with stage 3c Ov/ca. Immidiatly after surgery, I was given 1.25mg of conjugated estrogen and have continued taking them daily. Should I be taking Estrogen replacement following Ov/ca? Is it an estrogen positive cancer, like some breast cancers? What would be an appropriate dosage - I realize I am young, but I believe I'm on the highest dose and am suffering from sore breasts, headaches and major swelling/weight gain. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

You should discuss this with your doctor so that you will have a better understanding of your condition and treatment. If you are prescribed the estrogen as part of your therapy, then my best guess is that you likely have a progesterone-receptive cancer, and the estrogen is taken an attempt to balance that situation.    Otherwise, you are likely being prescribed the drug  in order to control some aspects of the surgically induced menopause.
