I saw an interesting blog/article on that (well at least similar, spicy foods, etc.).  Showed that in countries where spicy foods are eaten (such as India), cancer occurance (esp. those in the abdomen) are much lower or nonexistant.  However when diet changes to more 'western' tastes, cancer increases.

I find it almost funny that western medicine used to believe that diet had *nothing* to do with cancer treatment, but now that is changing and all the treatments are going towards diet and natural based analogs!

got an email from a research facility in UK, they are hot on the trail of using  Capsaicin for ALL cancers,  this comes from cayenne peppers.  Have not read all the articals yet but did call Leslee and tell her to start using it on her food as much as possible.  I raise these cute little hot peppers every year and hang them up to dry,  use the seeds in my chili, stews , canning certain things such as salsa, ketchup, stewed tomatos and tomato juice.

It's funny, I came across this same conclusion last year when I started researching everything for my mom.  In-fact, I bought DIM-Plus and Soy Isoflavones (with the two isoflavones mentioned) for her.

If you are using this for supplementation, there is more you need to know (and I'm too tired right now to go in-depth), but:

I3C is converted into DIM in the body, but it's not well absorbed (DIM).  So someone came up with DIM-Plus.  You can get it direct from that person (I forget but can find out), or better yet from Nature's Way (they have the supplement) which has DIM-Plus in it.  DIM or I3C (original research showed no difference) halted and even killed ovarian cancer cells

Genistein is the main FERMENTED soy isoflavone that I've always been hot on.  In-fact, no suprise here, they made an analog of it for an ovarian cancer therapy...Phenoxodil.  It's in stage III testing right now with fast track status.  Why?  Platinum resistant...no mamm...not with genistein, it makes the cells CHEMOSENSITVE again.  Of-course not everyone responds (like any treatment).

Still on Genistein, you can get it from any fermented soy product.  The best (and documented) is Haelen 951....VERY expensive and tastes like...um...**** so I've heard.  But has high genistein levels and helped one IIIC ovca patient with plat rest. cells (agressive) have steady disease and had an excellent clinical response months later with plat. again.  You can also get this supplement from Nature's Way or LEF  (www.lef.org).

I'll have more about all this research on my Ovarian Cancer Research Website.  It's almost complete...just been busy with mom so there is much to add to it (but you will all like it I hope!).  When it's chock full of data and stuff, it'll be a good resource and community!

Hi All...I agree...'eat your veggies'. :-)  I survive on fruit, veggies and whatever else I like to eat, including red meat which my Oncol. had recommended.I don't take vitamins or supplements, but prefer to stick to the fresh and natural. I guess it's a individual choice, but I love broccoli :-).. so I suppose that helps.
Hoping everyone is doing well with whatever they choose to eat....Helmar..

Very good, Paula!  I know that I used to consume soy milk (felt guilty about it) but later I found out it does not contain genistein. That is the ingredient that is shown now as a fighter. There is a Yale study with Phenodyxl (sp?) which is genestein. Broccoli sprouts are very good, too.
