Elevated HCG levels

by mamacourt, Apr 21, 2008 11:47AM
Hello,

I am a 28 year-old mother of 3, and have had a very rough past couple of months. I was in the ER for the stomach flu in February, and the doctor told me I was pregnant but my HCG level was only 12. I then had bleeding, just a little heavier than a normal period. My HCG levels went up to 40 after the bleeding, then to 48, and then down to 12. They did one more test just to make sure I was back to normal, and my level was a 480, then an 800, then 1400. During this time I had 3 transvaginal ultrasounds, and had light brown spotting every day. They discovered a follicular cyst, a corpus luteum cyst, and a small sac in the uterus that was too small to be viable. The day of my d & c my level was 2800. The results of the d & c came back positive for a gestational sac but negative for the pregnancy. I had another hcg and the level was 2400, but my doctor opted to treat with methotrexate in case of ectopic. I am waiting for my 4-day post methotrexate hcg test to come back. I have been researching other possiblities for hcg levels, and have come across a lot of information on germ cell tumors and choriocarcinoma. Has anyone heard of a similar situation? I am at my wits end.
