Elevated liver functions

Elevated liver functions

I was wondering if anyone ever had elevated liver functions durng treatment? I had 6th maint. treatment on April 10; blood work was okay, CA 125 at 6.  But my AST and LDH were very elevated. My onc. referred me to my PCP because he has perscribed Lipitor (which I have been on for seveal years), and she (onc) felt that taking this, along with the chemo, may be causing some damage to my liver.  I will admit that I don't take pain meds at all, but I take 3 extra strength Tylenol to sleep almost every night, as well as for the bone pain that accompanies by Neupogen shots. I guess when I looked at the total picture, I do take an excess amount of Tylenol (NOT a good thing, I discovered) My PCP immediately took me off the Lipitor and I have not taken any Tylenol since.  I had a repeat liver function done today with a complete Lipid panel and am awaiting results.  Is this something to be concerned about and can the liver heal once I am off the meds and done with chemo?  I had a slightly elevated Bilirubin, also.  My onc. said the LDH was insignificant to her, and the LST was "slightly" elevated.  The nurse who took my blood said my Potassium blood test "hemolyzed", and upon research I found that maybe all my blood levels may have been elevated becausue of a "bad draw".  Also, I have just recently been experiencing an intermittent burning dull ache along my lower right rib cage with LOTS of belching and gas - Gallbladder?  which can elevate these standards as well.  Any insight from anyone is greatly appreciated.  Thanks!  Judie :)

Hope you don't think people are ignoring you hun, only thing I can answer you on is the gall bladder thing, those are the symptoms all right.  If you have a lot of pain it is more likely to be gallstones, rather than a non functioning one, passing a lot of bile in your stools suggests a non functioning one.  If they took the readings from a hemolyzed sample, the readings I am sure will be off. They  should not have been read in the first place. The labs here in the states are turning out about 30% wrong reading each year. What makes me mad is the doctors that don't see the plates themselves but rely on the lab personel and then just read that report. Think it would be wise to learn to ask the doctor, "did you actually see my blood, xray, scan, urinalsis" a radiologist is the one that is supposed to view all xrays and scans, they are highly trained, but for the blood work and UA's  a doctor is just gonna take the lab assistants word.

Thank you so  much for your input. You have so much knowledge, and it is always good to hear what you have to say.  I get so anxious that any little ache or pain seems to be blown out of proportion......just hope and pray that my newest tests come back lower.  Tonight I made a mean spaghetti sauce for supper and topped that with a nice tossed salad (no wine, though, LOL) and boy, do I have enugh gas to fly myself across country!!!!! (Talk about shooting myself in the foot, eh?) I will defiitely get my gallbladder checked out.  Again, thanks for your input.  Hope Leslee is doing well.  As always you are BOTH in my prayers!  God Bless :) Judie
