Endometriosis and Megace question... please read

Hi everyone, I went to see my gyn/onc today and she believes that on top of having ORS she thinks endometriosis is starting to take over my pelvic region.  She is wanting to put me on megace (progestrone med) to see if she can get the pain to stop.  We have already tried using Yasmine to stop the pain, but it did not work.  She is wanting me to try Megace for 3 months to see if it helps.  She told me that it will really increase my appitite (Not what I need since i am already overweight).  I am really scared as I have been struggling to lose weight anyway.  Has anyone else taken this medication?  She told me that if it did not work she was going to go ahead and open me up and see what the heck is going on.  If it DOES work then she is going to keep me on the medication for a year and then go in and burn the endo.  Does this sound right to anyone?  Any info you have on endo. or Megace would be so great.  Thanks everyone.  Love, Kasie

I have had endo for 18 yrs 4 surgeries and I have learned alot. first of all burn endo which means she usues a laser will not remove the endo. I had that twice. Endo needs to be escised which means cut out. After my second surgery and I still had pain they put me on depo provera yes the pain stopped but I gained a ton of weight and it just put my endo at bay for the time being. I got pregnant and about a year after she was born I started to have the pain worse then ever. I got fed up with my gyn and found an endo specialist which there are only a few in the country and I had another surgery my first surgery back 16yrs ago I was stage 1 endo my last surgery I was stage 3 out of 4. when they burn the endo they just burn the top layer endo is known to grow deep in the tissue so if you burn the top it will still grow that is why Dr's say it grows back it does not grow back because it was never totally removed. Do your homework finding a good Dr if they deleiver babies chances are the dont have the time to do research. Watch those infetility guys to. I have been there and done it all. Good Luck:)

Hi - What sort of pain with the endo are you  referring to?  I'm just trying to get experiences, symptoms from all of you that have been there as I'm just beginning the journey for something; don't know what yet, but my body does not like the new "me" it has become in the last year.  Thanks so much and be well.....
