After so many options like opn, alternative teatment for just one Lymph node we emphasized another round of chemo and She received 3 cyles of Carbo+Gemzar.
Her CA 125 was 138 after 2nd and 85 after 3rd cycle. She is about to take admission for 4th.
Latest CT scan Report shows One necrotic lymph node with reduced size 3cmx2.x2cm compared to USG report in Dec 3.44cmx4cmx3.2 cm.
Could you please help about the term necrotic? Does this mean that the infected node is dying and it is a good term to have for post chemotherapy report? Her CA 125 has dropped substantially.
I'm sure you've looked up the term "necrotic lymph node", as I just did. I'm afraid I still don't have any advice on whether this is a good sign or not. On one hand, the fact that it is reduced in size would be a good thing, but not so sure the term "necrotic" is a good thing. I don't know if that means the node is shriveling up, or what. Can you talk to her Oncology team about it? That might be your best bet. I'd hate to give you information based on a guess. Best wishes to you both!
I asked her oncolgist today as per his comments it is good that necrotic means Dead. After chemo if a living node becomes necrotic it can be assummed that Chemo has killed all the cells in the Node and that is why the node is no longer alive along with cancer cells in it.
necrotic: "localized death of living tissue" according to Webster's Seventh New Collegiate Dictionary......that would be good news as far as I can figure. So, congrats to your mom! She sure went through an awful lot to accomplish this.
Peace.
