Enlarged Leiomyomatous uterus

by Tsige, Sep 20, 2007 06:21PM
Hi I am 48 years old I have one child at 17. i am so scared of this findings is it indicating any cancerous or what? Please respond I am worried to death.
I have pelvic ultrasound and the findings are the uterus is enlarged and measures 11.2 x 10.4 x 5.7 cm. The endometrium was never visualized transabdominally and was not sharp trasvaginally. Uterine architecture is erogenous with several hypoechoic areas representing fibroids. The largest of these fibroids measures 3.5 cm in diameter there are several fibroids mesure approximately 3 cm in diameter.
The left ovary is normal and measures 2.1 x 1.7 x 1.1 cm, and the right ovary measures 3.7 x 3.5 x 3.1 cm. adjacent to the right ovary is a 7.0 cm cyst seen only transabdominally. Presumably most of the cyst was out of range transvaginally. Using the endovaginal scanner, the largest right ovarian cyst measure 2.5 cm. A tiny amount of free fluid is seen in the pelvis. Becouse of the large size of the cyst, surgical intervention may be necessary if it does not respond to ovarian suppression.
Impression
Enlarged leiomyomatous uterus. 7 cm right ovarian cyst.

Hi, I am a surgical nurse working in an operating room.  Based on your pelvic sonogram results.  It is basically indicating that your have an enlarged myomas with large cyst.  I had worked with Gynecologic surgeons operating on patients with myomas as huge as the size of a football.  Currently, most of them (surgeons) used the laparoscopic procedures which will convert to open if they have difficulty manipulating the instruments involved or if the patient has an unusual anatomical layout of the uterus, and ovaries.  Your report stated that due to large myoma, it suggested a surgery to take out the huge myoma and drain out the cyst fluid.  I hope that helps.

Hi, I am a 52 year old female who has had fibroids in the past.  I also have a hx. of an ovarian cyst, which apparently broke in August of 2008 sending me to the hospital with severe pain.  CT scan showed a large mass of free fluid.  I was just at the hospital again for severe pain which was similar to the cyst bursting except for the fact that the pain radiated to the back.  CT scan shows a slightly prominent uterus measuring about 7x7cm., which can represent leiomyomatous change.  Is this a problem that I should consult with my Ob/Gyn immediately or should I not be so concerned at this point?  No free fluid was seen on the CT scan this time around.  Please give me some advice as to what to do?
