Enlarged Ovaries

I just started my period today and I noticed for the first time ever that my ovaries are so enlarged that they are visibly protruding from the skin.  They are both visible yet one side is noticeably larger than the other.  I also normally have very painful and heavy periods.  Could this be a sign of ovarian cancer or some other problem?  Or is it normal for ovaries to become this enlarged during menstruation?

You need to see your gynecologist for an exam. It is hard to comment without knowing the exam findings, ultrasound report and so on.
