Etoposide or Topotecan?

I met with the gyn/onc here in Texas today, and he is going to treat my recurrence as soon as possible.  He educated me regarding four different options of chemotherapy.  The two that I am most interested in using are Etoposide or Topotecan.  Has anyone ever used either of these therapies?  What were the side effects?  How long did the symptoms last?  I am worried that if I take the Etoposide regimen of every day for three weeks and then off one week, I will have the side effects last the entire three weeks.  I have the the same concern with the Topotecan of every day for one week and two weeks off, or once a week for six weeks. What I'm hoping to do is return to work full time as soon as possible and this depends upon the length of time the side effects last.

I'm so glad that the doctors here do not want to wait two months or so before treating me.  It's made the move to Texas from Salt Lake easier for me.

I had topotecan for six months.  On for three weeks, one off.   Had low white counts, had to get injections to boost that.  also, some hair thinning, and tired, need to take nausea, meds, but that was not so bad.  It did make the CA drop but the tumours were still there and more.....

  I was on Topotecan for awhile and found it very easy to tolerate. The problem for me was that it just did not work. I also found out that when you begin, it takes a little while before it does start working.
Sorry I cannot help you with the Etoposide as I have not been on that yet.
