FOR EVERYONE

  As many of you may recall, a few months back several of us were throwing an idea around about organizing a big get together in the late spring or early summer, as it seems there is a large number of us in the midwest. I have been working on getting a map made and pin pointing locations to get some idea of an area right in the middle of all of us. Before I say anything else, I want to make it very clear that this is for everybody, not just those in the midwest. But by my rough counts from the members list there are like 40 + of us in this area, so it seemed a good place to focus on. Before I get in to it any deeper, I would like some feedback from all of you. What do you think? Would you plan on being there? What would you like to do there? How about making a weekend of it? Would you prefer a bigger city over a smaller one?
  I will not be able to organize the whole thing by myself and I do not want to. This is for all of us and I would not want to be condsidered the "boss lady". But I do plan on doing as much as I can to make sure that it will happen if enough of you are interested. I have already played around and found somewhat of a central area.
  So think about it. When would be good for everyone? We want to make sure that those who have had surgery are recovered enough to be able to enjoy it. I think that this would be a totally awesome experience for all of us. So lets put our foggy brains together and see if we can make it happen. It would be nice to get somewhat of a rough estimate of how many we can expect.

Go for it hun, sounds good, I will try and make it and will try to drag Les along too, we both need a break .  Small town with good motels, city with one big hotel . I have respite workers for Chris  so I am free most of the time.   Marty

Time, money, other commitments, work....(Mary; STOP!)....not sure IF I could make it...BUT, I love the idea none-the-less!

For those of you who are on the fence about this idea, please reconsider and go. I met up with a few people from a heart board I visit. Yes, I was nervous as all get out but once you meet, it's like being with family. The hugs, the laughter, all the excitement. It's one of the best trips I ever made and the memories are priceless. We were all from the west coast and Canada and met in Seattle. We figured there'd be a lot to do in case we ran out of things to talk about. Shoot, we could have spent the weekend in a parking lot and still not have had enough time to visit. Go for it, one and all.

Chris, I am glad you have been well enough to pick up the ball on this, cause I was just to sick to follow through.  Since I am not going back on chemo (no matter what onc says) for at least a couple of months I will be able to help plan it.  I met Gail (gah_70) last Saturday for dinner and it was WONDERFUL.  I would love to meet as many of you as I can and I will be there.  I think the next step would be to seee how we can narrow down a weekend.  Maybe get everyone to list every weekend they could be available and go with the weekend when the most people can be there.

Just thought that I would bump this up. I want everyone to know about it and consider coming. We will try to plan it at a good time for as many as possible. And try to centralize the meeting spot as best as we can. Any and all help, suggestions ect. will help.

Great idea to have a gathering.  
There is a place perfect for such a gathering  --- in the midwest.

It is the most beautiful, peaceful and uplifting small conference center in the world.
Overnight accomodation for up to 70.  

Dining Hall is spectacular.  Has a Shaker-like simplicity about the place.
Good for the soul.  Great food.

Hi all,

I think it is a wonderful thing that is happening in Springfield.  You never know if all goes well for this meeting....it might then become an annual or six monthly event...and maybe then even an international event!!  the possibilities are endless and as others have said before that there is a lot of talk around sad stuff, it is good to focus on and have something great to look forward to.  Well done and go for it...
