Fam hx of gyn CA

Thank you for having this forum - it is wonderfully informative.

  I had a transvaginal US yesterday that showed a 3cm cyst on my right ovary.  The radiologist says -simple cyst but has a few septations in it.  She wants me to have the test repeated in 2-3 months.  However, I have a strong family Hx of gyn cancers.  My maternal grandmother had ovarian cancer (stage 4) at age 49(died at 50).  Her sister as well as that sister's daughter both had pre-cancerous cells on a PAP (ages 47 and 20's, respectively) and had recommended complete hysterectomy/oopherectomy.  There is a LOT of breast CA in my family.  My mother has passed on  (non CA related - age 53), my only living relative on that side is my aunt (mom's sister) who had hysterectomy/oopherectomy in her 30's (endometriosis) and Breast CA at 49. More CA than I can list here.  I have no good way to evaluate whether or not the ovarian cancer would have continued on down the line of women to me.  I didn't think a cyst could be considered simple if it had septations in it. I am having Genetic counseling at Metro next week to determine whether or not I should have the BRCA1 and 2 testing done.  I can't seem to convince my GYN to draw a CA-125.  Symptom wise -vague abdominal pains for about 2 years (GYN thinks endometriosis - another Dr. says no way - not after 3 kids- endo on US was of normal thickness), pain with intercourse, recently I have had breakthrough bleeding X4 weeks, occ. GI disturbance.  DO you recommend this 2-3 mo. waiting period?  Should I be more persistent with my Dr. about the CA-125? Suggestions? HELP
