Financial Help- Emend/copays

by LILLIAN577, Nov 01, 2009 01:45PM
My poor mom OVCA IIIC is on Social Security and is in the donut hole of her Humana Gold Plus Insurance. Her emend for this treatment is 335.83 (crazy) we are trying to get assistance for this copay or to get her another medication that is cheaper and works as well. SHe has had great results with the Emend.
What do we do she is swamped with copays/medications/Hospital bills

We're in the same boat with my husband's Medicare.  You bite the bullet and pay the pharmacy until the donut hole expires. You might be able to substitute another drug for the Emend to save some money. But, the bottom line is: You will pay until the hole is closed one way or another. It is not a good thing and could get worse when all the proposed cuts in Medicare take place. But, that's a whole other subject that is no fun to try to discuss.

There is a program in the US called the Chronic Disease Fund, they help my mother with her meds for ther macular degenrative eye disease....don't know if they can help but it might be worth looking into.  Also, the American Cancer Society might be able to help.  You can also go directly to the drug company.
